| We are a traditional mountain and gospel and folk and bluegrass and other such carryings-on type band, otherwise dubbed "Swamp-billy" cause we ain't got no hills! We began this little journey in the spring of 2005 as a skit for a Mothers Day Celebration at our church, Caswell Springs United Methodist in Jackson County, MS. Since then things have gotten out of hand. We've played outdoor festivals, church services and nursing home events. We have found that our audience is wide and varied; the old-timers enjoy our old-time sound (guitar, mandolin, slide guitar, upright bass, and fiddle with a generous portion of tight hillbilly harmony); and the younger crowd seems to enjoy the energy and comedy which erupts on a regular basis. We're having so much fun with this project that we have to constantly remind ourselves that this is indeed the Lord's work, not ours. Our music is first ministry, then fun. Bear in mind that this ain't just a bunch of yahoos who decided to experiment with hillbilly music. We're all Southern born and bred...it's dang near a genetic improbabilty that we wouldna ended up this way.
